Introduction

Welcome to the Ghost of Tsushima Trophy Guide! Ghost of Tsushima is a Singleplayer open world Samurai fighting game. It’s doable for players of all skill levels and nothing difficult like Dark Souls games (similar to Assassin’s Creed in difficulty). It’s an easy platinum that is purely completion-based. Just finish the story, liberate all regions, do all Side Tales (Quests), and find the various types of Collectibles. 90% of trophies will come naturally while working on those tasks. The rest is a couple of miscellaneous trophies. Nothing is missable, you can get everything after the story in free-roam. You can already work on side tasks during the story if you like. Cutscenes and dialogues in this game are unskippable. The story on its own takes about 15 hours to complete. Each region takes another 15 hours or so to clear. There are 3 regions in total (the 3rd region is shorter). Most players should be able to achieve platinum in 50 hours when playing on easy difficulty. There are no difficulty-related trophies and you can switch difficulties at any time.

Step 1: Complete the Story, work on Side Tasks as you wish

Your first step is to complete the story. There are no difficulty-related trophies, so you can play on easy if you like. You can work on side tasks as you see fit (any Liberations, Side Tales, Collectibles you come across). Nothing is missable and you can still do everything after the story in free-roam.

There are just a few things you should keep in mind for maximum efficiency:

  • Equipping the Charm “Charm of Inari” is very useful, it increases the amount of Supplies you find. It’s obtained from Shinto Shrine Collectible: Arrow Peak Shrine in Region 1. Supplies are essentially the “money” in this game. You need a lot of supplies to fully upgrade your sword and the Sakai Clan Armor.
  • The only trophy-relevant Weapon/Armor upgrades are for fully upgrading the “Sakai Katana” (your sword) and the “Sakai Clan Armor” (automatic unlock in Act 2). Keep all your Supplies for these, don’t waste too many Supplies on other things (but putting a few into bow upgrades is okay, just don’t put it all into pointless armor upgrades that you’ll never need). Upgrading the Sword unlocks “The Perfect Storm” and fully upgrading the Sakai Clan Armor is required for “All in the Wrist”.
  • Wear the Traveler’s Armor to make the controller vibrate when artifacts & records are nearby (upgrading this armor a little bit is okay). You unlock it for free by talking to merchants, for example the one at the Hiyoshi Survivor Camp. It also allows you to press :right: on the world map to be led to the next artifact automatically.
  • Try to get trophy “Have a Nice Fall” early (kicking someone off a ledge to make them die from falling damage). Or at least get it while you still have a few Occupied Mongol Territories left. It’s best to do this at Mongol Outposts, because enemies are placed in fixed positions there. Once you’ve liberated all camps you can’t reset them. Then you’d have to rely on random enemy patrols which would make this more tricky.

Should you get stuck at any mission, refer to the Ghost of Tsushima Walkthrough (All Tales).

Game-Breaking Progression Bugs Warning: There are lots of reports of quest markers bugging out and entire main- or side quests becoming impossible to complete. There’s about a 20% chance of this happening at some point throughout the game. It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED to make Manual Saves regularly. At least once every hour, or even better after every Quest. Make it a habit to always make a Manual Save each mission and when you run out of save slots, always overwrite the oldest one. If you have a game-breaking bug, the only way to fix it is by reloading an old Manual Save. Also don’t start a Side Tale and leave it incomplete. You don’t want to spend 60 hours and then come back to it only to realize it has a game-breaking progression bug. Always finish each Tale you start before moving on to the next!

Step 2: Liberating all Areas / Enemy Outposts (collect all resources you can find in camps to fully upgrade your Sword & Sakai Clan Armor)

After the Story all remaining Mongol Camps get marked on the map automatically (red icons). But just in case, here are their locations » Ghost of Tsushima – All Mongol Territories (All Occupied Areas to Liberate).

Liberate ALL of them now. This will clear the fog from the map and reveal all Collectibles & Side Tales as Question Marks “?” on the map. This takes out a lot of the manual search work.

Make sure to search the enemy camps thoroughly for materials and supplies while liberating them. You will need them to fully upgrade your Sword for “The Perfect Storm” and the Sakai Clan Armor for “All in the Wrist”. This consumes a lot of materials, don’t underestimate it. Being somewhat thorough will do, you don’t have to grab every single item. Just get more than half and you’ll end up with enough.

Step 3: Collectibles, Side Tales, Mythic Tales

Finish all Collectibles, Side Tales, Mythic Tales. They get marked on the map as Question Marks “?” after having liberated all regions.

Here is are all the completion-tasks you need for platinum:

  • All 61 Side Tales
  • All 7 Mythic Tales
  • All 18 Hot Springs
  • All 16 Bamboo Strikes
  • All 16 Shinto Shrines
  • All 8 Lighthouses
  • All 49 Inari Shrines (Fox Dens)
  • All 19 Haiku
  • All 25 Duels
  • All 2 Dye Merchants
  • Only 30 of 59 Vanity Gear (comes automatically from Story & finding all Haiku)
  • Only 1 of 23 Pillars of Honor
  • Only 20 of 40 Records
  • Only 20 of 50 Mongol Artifacts
  • Only 5 of 20 Singing Crickets
  • Only 10 Hidden Altars (these aren’t marked on the map)

The only Collectibles you don’t need at all are Sashimono Banners, everything else is tied to trophies. For a list of all Quests you can also refer to the Ghost of Tsushima Walkthrough (All Tales) which includes unlock requirements, starting locations and a full walkthrough of each quest.

Step 4: Miscellaneous Trophies

At this point you may still have some of the not-so-obvious miscellaneous trophies left, for example: Cooper Clan Cosplayer, Dirge of the Fallen Forge, All in the Wrist. Refer to the trophy guide below for their solutions. They are quickly done in free-roam after the story.

Helping Sword Hand
Complete all Tales of Tsushima.
In total there are 61 Side Tales, also called “Tales of Tsushima”. They are the Side Quests in the game. You can tell it’s a Side Quest because they have a silver icon on the map (either a silver face icon if it’s part of a side quest line, or 4 silver dots if it’s a short quest not part of a quest line).

You must complete all 61 of these for the trophy. This will automatically unlock the silver trophies for doing the side quest lines from Norio, Masako, Ishikawa, and Yuna.

None of the Tales of Tsushima are missable. It doesn’t matter what dialogue choices or what ending you pick during the story. You can still do all of them after the story in free-roam. You can also reveal them on the map as question marks “?” by liberating all of the Occupied Mongol Territories.

However, a few side quests don’t get marked on the map even after liberating all regions. If you’ve uncovered all question marks and are missing a side tale, check The Cost of Fear & A Debt Repaid. These two aren’t marked on the map and are the most likely ones to overlook.

You can see which ones you’ve completed under Pause Menu > Journal > Tales of Tsushima.

For a list of all Side Tales with their starting locations, check this guide (you can also compare with the list from your Journal to find what you’re missing):

Flash of Steel
Defeat 20 enemies with a counterattack after a Perfect Parry.
First you must buy the skill “Perfect Parry” (Techniques > Samurai > Deflection). Then you can press :l1: right before being hit by an attack and follow up with :square: or :triangle: . Kill 20 enemies using this method. It’s important you actually KILL them with the counterattack and don’t just wound them. If you have trouble with this, you can either weaken the enemies first, or wait until the end of the game when you have a fully upgraded Katana to kill weaker enemies in one hit.
Witness Protection
Shoot a Terrified enemy with an arrow while they are fleeing.

First you need to terrify an enemy. An enemy counts as “terrified” when they see something gruesome and fall to the floor in shock, then they start running away from the fight. There are a few ways to terrify enemies:

  • Ghost Stance (can terrify enemies upon activation or while killing enemies in Ghost Stance)
    • Unlocked during Act 2 – Main Quest: The Ghost of Yarikawa.
  • Blowgun Poison Darts (shooting an enemy with poison darts from stealth will make them puke blood, doing this to two enemies almost always makes other enemies terrified)
    • Unlocked during Act 2 – Main Quest: Ghosts from the Past.
  • Deflection Skill “Terrifying Parry” (Perfect Parry counterattacks have a 20% chance to Terrify nearby enemies)
    • Bought for 2 skill points.
  • Mythic Arts (every Mythic Art has a decent chance to terrify some enemies)
    • Unlocked from doing the Mythic Tales.
  • Have fully upgraded Sakai Clan Armor and defeat enemies in Standoff for a 25% chance to terrify
    • Automatically obtained during Act 2 – Main Quest: Ghosts from the Past.
  • Have a fully upgraded Ghost Armor for 30% chance to terrify enemies
    • Automatically obtained during Act 2 – Main Quest: From the Darkness.

Now find any group of enemies. If you’ve already done all quests and liberated all areas, you can still find random enemy patrols on the main roads all over the map. Terrify an enemy using one of the methods above. When they run away, get out your bow and shoot them in the back. The enemy does not have to die from the arrow, just hitting them is enough!

The safest bet to terrify enemies is by combining two methods: Wearing upgraded Ghost Armor and shooting 2 enemies with Poison Darts from stealth. Let other enemies see it and there’s a 90% chance someone will run off terrified. If not, restart the Checkpoint to get the Poison Darts back (or make a Manual Save beforehand to not waste ammo).

All in the Wrist
Defeat the maximum amount of enemies within a single Standoff.

There are some prerequisites needed for this.

  1. Fully Upgrade the Armor “Sakai Clan Armor”. It’s unlocked automatically during Act 2 – Main Quest: From the Darkness. It adds a +2 Streak to Standoffs.
  2. Buy the two Skills “Standoff Streak” & “Improved Standoff Streak” (Techniques > Ghost > Evolving Tactics). This adds another +2 Streak to Standoffs.

By default you can only kill 1 enemy per standoff. But the above adds +4 to the Streak, bringing the total to 5. You must kill 5 enemies in one Standoff for this trophy. Standoffs are activated by pressing  when the button prompt shows up on-screen. Then you hold :triangle: and release it when the enemy is starting their attack. To add another strike, keep your finger off the :triangle: button and only tap it shortly when an enemy comes rushing at you. Repeat the last step to more enemies for 5 Standoff Kills in a row.

Standoffs usually happen when you approach enemies head-on, or when only a few last survivors are scattered around an enemy camp. You always get the option when approaching random enemy patrols that show up along main roads.

The enemies in late-game areas (yellow, green armor) get much harder to defeat in standoffs. In particular, they will try to disorient you with fake attack attempts and their attacks are also much quicker, which requires a better reaction time from you. It’s better to go back to the 1st region where enemies are slower in standoffs (white robes or red armor). Finding a random patrol of bandits (white robes) in the 1st region is the easiest option that requires the least reaction time.

If you’ve already liberated all regions you can still find random enemy patrols on the main roads all over the map, so this isn’t missable.

Open for Business
Successfully Stagger enemies 50 times.
To “stagger” an enemy you need to deplete the white bar above their head by breaking through their defenses. The Stagger bar is essentially the enemy’s guard/defense. Deplete it and they will be “staggered” for a moment, allow you to land some hits.

It helps to use the correct stance for the enemy:

  • Stone Stance = Swordsmen
  • Water Stance = Shieldmen
  • Wind Stance = Spearmen
  • Moon Stance = Brutes

The easiest option against any type of enemy is to hold down :triangle: in Water Stance which unleashes a series of strikes that staggers all enemies quickly.

There Can Be Only One
Successfully complete every duel.
Duels are “Boss Fights” where you face off against a single named enemy with a health bar at the top of the screen. Some are part of the story, the rest comes from liberating certain Mongol Territories, is found in the open world, in Mythic Tales, and Side Tales. As you go for all other trophies this will come automatically along the way (liberating all regions, doing all Tales of Tsushima, and all Mythic Tales).

» Ghost of Tsushima – All 25 Duel Locations

Have a Nice Fall
Kill an enemy with fall damage by knocking them off a ledge.

First you need to buy one of these two skills: “Shoulder Charge” (Techniques > Samurai > Evasion) or “Strengthened Typhoon Kick” (Techniques > Stances > Wind Stance).

Shoulder Charge can be unlocked sooner and allows you to press :circle: while sprinting to knock enemies backward over ledges. However, it is countered quite often and harder to control than Typhoon Kick.

Strengthened Typhoon Kick is unlocked later in the game (after killing lots of enemy leaders) and is activated by holding :triangle: in Wind Stance. It’s easier to use and enemies don’t usually counter it.

Either move will work for it. Now all you need is a ledge or cliff. This could be the cliffside of a mountain, or it could be a rooftop or archer’s watchtower. There should be at least a 5 meter drop, more is better. Line up the enemy at the ledge and knock them off. You don’t have to be in stealth for it, this can be done in open combat. You can also weaken the enemy beforehand. He needs to die from the fall to unlock the trophy, if he survives it won’t count.

It’s recommended to do this trophy as early as possible! The more outposts and tales you’ve completed, the more limited your options become. When you’ve liberated all areas, you will only have random enemy patrols in the open world left. Then you’d have to get lucky to get some to spawn near a cliff, or lure them there from further away. It’s easier to do this at enemy outposts where enemies have fixed positions.

For example, I did it at “Derelict Mine” in the 3rd Region, which is surrounded by many cliffs.

Haunting Precision
Kill 20 enemies with Ghost Stance strikes.
Ghost Stance is unlocked during Act 2 – Main Mission: The Ghost of Yarikawa. It’s an automatic unmissable story-unlock.

Once you have it, you can activate Ghost Stance in two ways: Either by stealth-slaughtering an enemy leader, or by killing 7 enemies in a row without being hit. Doing 7 kills without getting hit may sound tricky at first, but there are a few ways to make it super easy – do stealth kills, if you’re spotted run away quickly and move on to another enemy camp. Or shoot enemies with arrows from afar, and run off before they get to you. Once you’ve fully upgraded your weapon and armor, you can kill enemies in 1-2 hits. Especially the bandits (white robes without armor) in the south of the first region will die in 1 hit easily after the story. At that point it gets very simple to do 7 kills in a row.

You will see the Ghost Stance bar fill up in the bottom right corner. When it’s all red you can press :l3: + :r3: to activate this Stance.

It will kill everyone in a single hit. Defeat 20 enemies while this stance is active. It’s not possible to defeat 20 in a single usage! You can only kill up to 3 enemies per use, so keep activating it whenever possible. After having liberated all regions, you can still find random enemy patrols along main roads.

The Ghost of Legend
Build your Legend to earn the title Ghost of Tsushima.
Happens automatically by completing all Main Tales, Side Tales, Mongol Territories. Each of these activities increases your legend rank, which is shown in the top right corner of the map. Don’t even worry about it. While working on all other trophies this is guaranteed to unlock automatically. You can also earn a small increase in Legend from defeating random enemy patrols, but this isn’t needed (I never engaged a single one of them and got the trophy before finishing all side tales).
Quick Study
Learn the Stone, Water, Wind, and Moon combat stances.
You only new stances by defeating enemy leaders. They stand out from other enemies because they have better armor. This trophy will come automarically while completing all Main Tales, Side Tales, Mongol Territories. Don’t even worry about it, this happens automatically over time with more game completion as you encounter leaders very frequently.
Every Trick in the Book
Acquire all the throwable Ghost Weapon techniques.
For this you must buy the following 6 skills under Pause Menu > Techniques > Ghost > Ghost Weapons: Kunai, Black Powder Bomb, Smoke Bomb, Sticky Bomb, Wind Chime, Firecracker. The other “Ghost Weapons Skills” aren’t required. You unlock new throwable categories by increasing your Legend Level. You gain Legend from completing Main Tales, Side Tales, Mongol Territories. This will happen naturally as you work on the other trophies for all Side Tales and all Liberations. When you increase your Legend Level you can choose a new Ghost Weapon to unlock. After unlocking the 5 Ghost Weapon Skills in the first row, all you need is the “Firecracker” under the “Wind Chime” (this is bought manually using a skill point and not from Legend Increase).

The Perfect Storm
Fully upgrade your sword.
You only have one sword in the game, the “Sakai Katana”. You can upgrade it at Swordsmiths, for example at Golden Temple in the 1st region. For the upgrades you need Supplies, Iron, Steel, and Gold. All of these are obtained from Mongol Outposts. Supplies and Iron are the most common. Supplies are found just about everywhere (mostly at enemy camps and farms) and are also dropped by dead enemies. Iron is found especially often at small Mongol Camps marked by a red dot on the map. Steel is rarer but is also found at Mongol Camps and in larger Mongol Strongholds (often times from boxes that say “Collect” when you approach them). Gold is a reward for liberating large Mongol Strongholds and is the rarest of these materials (not found in the world, only obtained as a liberation reward).

It’s highly recommended to search all Mongol Camps/Strongholds/Farms thoroughly when liberating them. You can also find tons of these materials during Main- and Side Tales. The materials can also be bought from merchants. The main thing you want to keep an eye on are the Supplies. You don’t want to spend them on unnecessary stuff. The only things you must upgrade for trophy purposes are the Katana and the Sakai Clan Armor. Keep all Supplies for those and ignore everything else until you have the trophy.

Equipping the Charm “Charm of Inari” is very useful, it increases the amount of Supplies you find. It’s obtained from Shinto Shrine Collectible: Arrow Peak Shrine in Region 1. Get it as early as possible for best results. But even without it you find more than enough Supplies, as long as you don’t waste them on unnecessary upgrades. After you’ve liberated all regions and done all quests, you can still find Supplies infinitely in the open world by defeating random enemy patrols (mostly found at main roads). They often have 25 Supplies or so.

A Charming Man
Equip a charm in all 6 slots.
First you will have to complete the Fox Dens (Inari Shrines) to unlock 6 charm slots. This is the only way to unlock all 6 slots. They are available from the beginning of the game. Once you have the 6 slots unlocked, you only need 6 charms. You get these from all sorts of completion-based tasks, mainly from Side Tales & Inari Shrines.

After you’re done with the Inari Shrines just keep doing Side Tales and you’ll get the required amount of Charms. You can equip them under Pause Menu > Gear > Sakai Steel.

Gifted
Collect 10 gifts.

Gifts are collected from Gift Altars, for example at Golden Temple in the 1st region (a story location you automatically visit during Act 1).

More gifts become available automatically through story progress. Don’t worry about this at all. You can check the gift altars during the story from time to time. Or just ignore them and check after the story, then you will have more than 10 gifts available. The gifts include resources and some wearable masks.

Slay
Acquire 30 pieces of Vanity Gear.
The fastest way to get this is by collecting the Haiku and Pillars of Honor. Each one of them (except the story-related ones) give you a piece of Vanity Gear. You can also buy the Wind of Vanity skill, then press :right: on the world map to activate Wind of Vanity which leads you to them. There are 59 Vanity Gear Pieces in total, but you only need 30.

Dirge of the Fallen Forge
Play the “Lament of the Storm” at a friend’s grave.

The “Lament of the Storm” is a song for your flute. You can view your Flute Songs under Pause Menu > Gear > Accessories > Flute.

To unlock “Lament of the Storm” you must collect 5 Singing Crickets. They are Collectibles found at Cemeteries. Refer to this guide: Ghost of Tsushima – All Singing Cricket Locations.

Once you collected 5 of them the song is instantly unlocked. Select it from the Gear > Accessories > Flute menu.

Now you must play at least to the end of Main Quest: A Reckoning in Blood (Act 2). This unlocks Taka’s Grave on the map. You can return to it at any time (it even has a fast travel point on it). Swipe the Touchpad :touchpad: left to play the song.

Here’s the exact location – it’s in Region 2: Toyotama, in the Yarikawa Prefecture on the right side of the map:

Master Liberator
Liberate the entirety of Tsushima Island.
Tsushima Island has 3 Regions: Izuhara, Toyotama, Kamiagata. You must liberate all of the Mongol Territories (Enemy Outposts/Strongholds/Farms) to clear the map. Liberating an entire region will also clear the fog from the map and reveal all Collectibles and Side Tales via Question Marks “?”. Initially, these Liberation areas aren’t marked on the map, but after the story they will all get marked automatically for you. The concept is the same – for small camps (red dots on map) you only need to defeat all enemies. For Strongholds (big red icons on map), you need to find some banners, kill all enemies, and blow up some powder kegs. For Farms you need to kill all enemies and free the farmers. There are 56 Mongol Territories in total – 24 in Izuhara, 17 in Toyotama, 15 in Kamiagata.

For their locations see the guide below:

Awesome PP, so glad you’re covering this. Been waiting a while for this and this is my sort of historical setting of interest, so I’m very excited. Sucks there are progression bugs but I would hope these are sorted pretty quickly, and a manual save mitigates this issue.

How did you find the game? 🙂

Can you play on any difficulty?

Can all the legends stuff be solo’d?

    • PowerPyx says

      October 19, 2020 at 4:53 pm

Well, it’s a co-op mode. So no. Stuff like Survival (especially Gold/Nightmare difficulty) and Raids you wouldn’t be able to beat solo. You’ll need an internet connection for it.
There is player search though, so no need to bring your own team (it automatically matches you up with others – however, Raids aren’t released yet so not sure if those will have player search).

      Hey Powerpyx !!

I have noticed that playing on easy difficulty gives you more supplies while looting, and increases the chances of finding supplies. I think its a useful tip and its up to you to confirm it and put it in the guide for those struggling especially after finishing the story

and as always, awesome guide <3

Loading a previous Manual Save should be able to fix these bugs (in some cases restarting checkpoint may be enough) 🙂

The day-one patch has addressed some bugs, but there’s always something wrong in huge open world games like this Better to be safe and have a backup, just in case.

Thanks for the amaazing guide as always. I have two questions about the game:

    1. I like to complete a region 100% first (side quests, collectible etc.) before moving on to the Main Quest. Is it possible to do this from the get go or is some stuff locked behind a skill/equipment that unlocks via MQ?

    2. Can we max out skills (and weapon upgrades/equipments) or is it like Odyssey where you have to choose?

    Reply
    • PowerPyx says

      July 16, 2020 at 5:44 pm

For 1) You can complete the regions as you go. Because the enemy camps don’t get marked on the map until after the story, I’d recommend referring to the Outpost Locations Guide. You can already complete them, they just aren’t marked on the map during the story. Once you’ve liberated those, the fog clears from the map. One thing worth noting is that the last mission in each area is tied to a story-related liberation. So technically, you can’t 100% complete a region until finishing the story missions there. Region 1 in particular has some missions & camps that don’t unlock until you’ve reached the 2nd region. Some backtracking is required but you can complete about 85% of it from the get-go.

For 2) Yes, you can max out everything. But for armor upgrades you want to be careful to not waste it on stuff that’s not trophy-related (described in Roadmap). You can buy more resources from Trappers when you run out, but the rare resources are very expensive. This could result in some extra grinding if you want to fully upgrade absolutely every armor (possible, but not recommended for trophies).

    • Headi says

      July 16, 2020 at 5:47 pm

I want to know that too. Do we get enough Technique points to max them all ?

I appreciate the update from Powerpyx in the reply to the user below, I’m sure more patches will be released in the next week, but man this is disappointing for a Sony 1st party game. Amazon already shipped my copy but kinda wish I could cancel it tbh. Anyway, thanks a lot for another great guide.

    • PowerPyx says

      July 16, 2020 at 11:35 pm

Odds are you’ll be fine :p
It’s not that much more buggy than other open world games of this size. Some bugs you can fix quickly via checkpoint restart, but when that doesn’t work the Manual Saves will fix it. If you keep a Save after every mission you’ll be good and can’t lose much progress in the worst-case-scenario. Only takes a few seconds to make a save, no big deal.

The bug reports I received are from the last few days, so quite current, but I think they were from before version 1.04. These include quest objectives/markers not spawning in various quests (thus making the quests impossible to advance) and even grappling hooks not spawning in main missions (makes it impossible to continue on mandatory story path). I want to point out that I didn’t have issues myself, but I received an alarming amount of confirmed reports from people I trust. There are always bugs in big games, but not to the point where every 3rd player I talk to tells me their quests got stuck.

How much the day-one patch (1.04) truly fixed isn’t known. It only shows the generic patch message “General bug fixes”. Which could be 1 minor bug fix or 100 major bug fixes, it’s not specified. The game only went gold 4 weeks ago and if they didn’t find those bugs in years of development, it’s unlikely they would find and fix all of them within a few weeks.

Even if they patch half the bugs, you still have a noteworthy chance of running into something game-breaking. Sadly, this is the case with most big open world games these days (at least the trophies are all obtainable, which is more than you can say for some other AAA games). Making frequent Manual Saves is good in any huge open world game as a precaution. I give it a 20-30% chance that a game-breaking progression bug will occur at some point in the game. The average gamer won’t care if they can’t complete a side quest, but for us trophy hunters it’s a deathblow without a backup save. I’m sure the community will gather bug reports over the coming days and the devs will patch what they can.

Are you sure you complete all the camp-related objectives? The big Strongholds (red building icon on map) require you to find banners and blow up some explosives too.
The small outposts (Red Dots on map) only require killing all enemies. Maybe there’s some enemy left hidden away.

I didn’t have issues with the camps. This doesn’t sound normal. I’d try restarting from checkpoint, reloading last manual save, or using fast travel to revisit the location.

It may require more story progress. Continue with the story for now and it should unlock (if you could let me know after which main mission it became available that’d be great). I don’t think that it’s a bug, just needs more story progress.

Hello! Thank you for this awesome guide! Not sure if this has been mentioned yet but I think you can farm precious loot like “Steel” by closing and reopening the app after looting it. When I reopened the game the Steel was there again and also in my inventory.

Maybe it helps someone who’s stuck on getting one or two more precious loot for trophies but otherwise it would spoil the experience.

the ‘All in the Wrist’ trophy describes why. You need to pull off a maximum stand off and to do that you need to upgrade the Sakai Clan armor which has that bonus effect, along with buying the standoff skills with technique points.

Once you liberate all outposts in a region. does that clear up ALL of the fog in the entire region? So far it’s kind of annoying how the outposts don’t clear enough fog to the point where youll get these spots where there’s no outposts or anything and you just have to manually go there to clear up the fog.

It might’ve already been said, but you don’t need to unlock everything under ghost weapons to get the trophy. I only bought the ones in the first row, bought none of the ones in the second row, and got the trophy to pop. Saves you 8 skill points!

      Needs additional confirmation.

I believe it is all skills in the first row, and the firecracker skill from the second row

it is not all 14, just all throwable items from what i can tell as i did the same thing

    • OTPYG says

      July 20, 2020 at 12:39 am

The last one you bought was the Firecracker I believe? That’s a throwable one in the first row which is required for the trophy, and please correct me if I’m wrong but you bought that after buying all the ones in the second row for the other ghost weapons I think. If someone could test buying all the ones in the first row including Firecracker before buying the second row upgrades to help confirm/deny that’d be great.

    July 19, 2020 at 11:21 pm

Just a heads up for the “Every Trick in the Book” trophy. You don’t actually have to buy all 14 skills in the tree. You need the 5 unlocks that you get as you raise your Legend, but then all you need is to go under Wind Chime and unlock Firecrackers. I think they aren’t specific with their wording. Firecrackers count as a separate thrown item, while all other techniques in that tree are just general upgrades to the existing thrown items you use.

I got the trophy spending a single skill point there only on the Firecrackers.

I did some digging on the Every Trick in the Book trophy and it unlocked after 1. Unlocking the whole first row for the ghost weapons + 2. Unlocking the firecracker one (the last one in the second row) so it just basically needs you to unlock all the ghost weapons. Hope this helps.

For the “Every Trick in the Book

You actually only need to purchase the five top Ghost Weapons and the “FIRECRACKER” skill under Wind Chime.

    The trophy unlocks after that.

With the trophy ‘Every Trick in the Book’, you only actually need to buy the firecracker skill under Wind Chime to unlock it. I got the trophy to pop when I bought the firecracker skill AND it was the first technique point I allocated to Ghost Weapons. You don’t have to get all of them, just the firecracker skill.

You’re right, I just happened to buy the Firecrackers skill last and that’s when the trophy popped. But indeed only specific skills are needed and not all of the Ghost Weapons skills (the wording in the official trophy description was slightly misleading). I’ve corrected this in the guide 🙂

Really easy trick for “Haunting Precision” (20 Ghost Stance Kills). Just keeping reloading the checkpoint during the ‘tutorial’ for Ghost stance, which is after the boss duel in Act II, “The Ghost of Yarikawa”. It is a very obvious encounter, you can’t miss it, you have to slaughter the boss fight and then activate Ghost Stance or it won’t let you continue. Just reload this checkpoint 7 times (3 kills per usage) and it will unlock the trophy!

Just done it myself so this definitely works. I imagine this is significantly easier than actually getting Ghost Stance 7 times.

P.S. Checkpoint is right as you are prompted to ‘slaughter’ the boss (i.e. after the duel), so you can get this done in 1-2 minutes. You don’t need to repeat the duel.

Anyone dealing with problem in finding records at Yarikawa Stronghold? Because, I’m unable to find the record near /inside sword Smith’s building and tower…even after my control kept on vibrating near the area
( travelers armour)yett the records never showed up. Any solution?

I think the guys that carry flags, like the one near the Yarikawa Stronghold, make your controller vibrate as well. This is what I’ve seen others say, at least.

Powerpyx, can you please make a guide on places where you can OBSERVE enemy leaders for extra skill points?
I just started the game, and the only Leader I’ve found you can observe is at a place called “Yoichi’s Crossroads”. It looks like a mini cemetery, and there should be one RED armoured leader there.

The trophy ,,open for business” won’t unlock for me,i have staggered enemies the entire game(depleting their defense with triangle) and the trophy didn’t pop up,i even used loads of kunai but the trophy isn’t there,i got all the trophies and this one is preventing me from getting the platinum.I even started a new game and staggered over 100 enemies and it’s not working.I also noticed that this is a common trophy so this is strange.

It’s not working for me either. Only trophy left before the plat and I’ve been using triangle exclusively throughout the game 🙁 tried to Google the issue but no one seems To have it. Any idea on how to fix it Powerpyx ?

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but the last light house I needed to do is bugged I think. It doesn’t bring up the R2 button to interact with it, ive fast travelled there and away, completely reset the game but still wont allow me to light it. Anyway good job on this walkthrough.

It’s not bugged you need to do a mission in act 3 before you can light it. Gave me problems too.

“Have a nice fall” easy way to get it is unlock the kick in the third stance then find an enemy camp with a lookout tower. Climb the ladder then shoot arrows down at enemies and they will come up the ladder after you and you can easily charge up your kick to knock them off. I ended up killing five in a row with this method.

Just got the plat. Really good game, story and some of the twists amazing. Plat very reasonable just a grind. They could have made it HORRIBLE. Not sure how many hours as don’t think there is an in-game timer? Been playing a hell of a lot since late Friday afternoon.

How far are you with the story? You may just need a little more story progress 🙂
If you’ve already beaten the story the next tales should become available immediately.

Love the game but I am so disappointed that there are game breaking bugs. I really hope they fix these because I want to just enjoy the game and the journey to the platinum but instead I’m constantly checking the map to see if something’s bugged out and I’m not very good at attention to detail which means I’m likely to miss something. It’s infuriating really.

Hello Powerpyx. The fox den in kamiagata near Silk Farm, the fox does not appear for me. Then when I watched your video for the route to the shrine, it doesn’t register without the fox. I have tried reloading previous saves, but no fox to follow. I have patch 1.05 installed.

      Sounds like a bug.
Have you tried restarting your PS4? I heard of some people who didn’t get certain quests and rebooting the console (or rebooting the game) fixed it for them.
Other than that, reloading an old manual save might be the only way.

Ive encountered a game breaking bug in act 2. Went to do a Yuna side tale in the Otsuna area and she wasnt there, also when i try to reload checkpoint i get a black screen. Tried to reload to latest manual save and got the same. Cleared the fortress nearby to see if that helped but when the screen cuts out to the cutscenes after i just get the black screen. Also i tried to get there from another direction and i hit an invisible wall. Could not enter the area from the north. Looks like im gonna have to fully restart the game as i am not in the habit of having multiple saves.

Gonna uninstall, reinstall and start again. But this is the sort of thing that normally makes me quit a game. However, i enjoy it so ill give it 1 more chance. I didnt know about any bugs when playing this game til today as i avoid looking up game info online til ive played it at least once.

Just load the last manual save before starting the bugged mission. If that doesn’t work, reload the save from the mission before that. Ideally, you should manual save in a different slot after every mission.

They’ve patched some of the game-breaking bugs, but with a game this size there will always be some weird issues. I’d still make a manual save after each mission.

I had no problems at all with the game.
I got all collectables (except the last haiku) before killing the last 2 Mongol camps, thinking that I might not be able to go back for a lighthouse etc, as I hadn’t read a guide.

I was surprised that there isn’t a pair of trophies for the do it/don’t do it scenario just before the post game (trying not to do any spoilers)

The Open for business Trophy is glitched… I’ve played through and staggered well over 200 enemies with ease… nothing. It’s the only trophy preventing my platinum. Have you guys heard this before? I’ve seen it in numerous chats but there is no reply on correcting the issue…

Hey! Why can’t you wait to complete a side tale?? If you leave a side tale uncompleted, spend 60 hours doing other things, come back and find out it has a bug, why can’t you just reload your previous save? (The save just before finding out the tale has a bug).. Or doesn’t the bug go away if you retry it?

Securing Sanctuary…. – Liberate all occupied areas in Toyotama
A New Safe Haven – Liberate all occupied areas in Kamiagata
Master Liberator – Liberate the entirety of Tsushima Island
There Can Be Only One – Successfully complete every duel

    Can anyone help ? 🙁
