It Takes Two Trophy Roadmap

  • Estimated trophy difficulty: 3/10
  • Approximate amount of time to platinum: 11-15 Hours
  • Offline Trophies: 21 (1trophy, 10trophy, 0trophy, 10trophy) – Note: All Trophies are “Co-Op Trophies” and require a 2nd player (either offline local splitscreen or online co-op).
  • Online Trophies: 0 (you can do everything in Local Splitscreen Co-Op with 2 controllers if you prefer this over playing online) – Whether you play it with an online friend or local co-op partner, please make sure you have a co-op partner before buying this game. There is no online matchmaking available! You’ll need to manually invite your partner if you play online. Doing it by yourself with 2 controllers would make some sections very tricky and is therefore not advisable.
  • Number of missable trophies: 0
  • Glitched trophies: 0
  • Hardest Trophy: Platforming Prodigy
  • Does difficulty affect trophies?: No, there are no difficulty settings (it’s all the same difficulty for everyone)
  • Minimum Playthroughs: 1
  • Story Length: 11-15 Hours
  • Level Select after Story?: Yes, you can replay all Chapters
  • Release Date: March 26, 2021

Introduction

Welcome to the It Takes Two Trophy Guide! This is a fairly simple and straightforward platinum. There are no difficulty-related trophies. Only 25 Collectibles (Minigames) and the rest are miscellaneous trophies that require you to interact with certain objects in certain chapters. The setup of the game and trophies is similar to A Way Out, the previous game by the same development team. It’s a co-op only splitscreen game. You can play it in local couch co-op with 2 controllers or with an online friend through PlayStation Network. There is no matchmaking so you must have a co-op partner figured out beforehand. The gameplay focuses on platforming and cooperative puzzle-solving. Don’t try to do this by yourself with two controllers, some sections would be very annoying without a second player. That said, with 2 people working together the game is easy enough and the puzzle solutions obvious. The story is quite long, around 13 hours on average. You can continue where you left off, so no need to do it in one sitting. If you quit the game and select continue it places you at the last checkpoint (no need to replay the sub-chapter from the start). The game is divided into 7 chapters with several sub-chapters (called “sections”).

Step 1: Get all Trophies & Minigames

There is only one step to this platinum. Play through the story, get all 18 chapter-specific trophies and find all 25 Minigames (Collectibles) along the way.

The 18 chapters-specific trophies require you to do certain optional tasks in specific sections of the game. These are usually little easter eggs and side activities. The 25 Minigames are this game’s version of Collectibles and they are marked by purple floating tambourines in the world. You can keep track of them in Chapter Select, it shows exactly which ones you have found and which are missing.

The trophy list is already in chronological order. Simply follow the trophy guide from top to bottom (it’s in chronological order) and check the Collectible Guide along the way
» It Takes Two All Minigame Locations.

(Optional) Step 2: Chapter Select if you missed anything

If you missed a trophy or a minigame you can quickly replay the Sections via Chapter Select. Some Sections are fairly long though (up to 1 hour) so in order to not waste time you should get everything on the first attempt.

It Takes Two Trophy Guide

Important: Because It Takes Two is a Co-Op Only Game but doesn’t have matchmaking you should find a 2nd player to help you before purchasing it (local splitscreen with 2 controllers or online co-op). There is a free “Friend’s Pass” which lets you gift the game to another person to join you. However, to earn trophies you must have purchased the full version, players joining with the Free Friend’s Pass Trial cannot earn any trophies!

Fried Friendship
It takes two to… torture.
Chapter: The Tree / Section: Captured

When you reach a circular platform with 8 red latches on it, where Cody must place explosive goo on all 8 latches so May can blow them up, take a little detour to check the path on the right. There’s a red “Start” button on a side path and when you approach it you’ll be told not to press it. For this you must press this button. This reveals a torture chamber, one of the two players gets sucked in and the trophy unlocks right away. Be sure to do this before destroying the 8 red latches of the aforementioned platform.

Note: Both players receive this trophy simultaneously.

Struck A Pose
Self-inflicted paparazzi.
Chapter: The Tree / Section: Deeply Rooted

After the Mortar Wasp Boss Fight you will come to a room with a camera setup. You need to stand in front of the stage (the stage shows squirrels and trees in the background). Then the 2nd player needs to take an image of you.

Note: Only the player being photographed will receive the trophy. The player taking the photo doesn’t get it but you can simply switch positions afterward and have player 1 take a picture of player 2.

Plastic Prison Breakers
They had no way out.
Chapter: Rose’s Room / Section: Pillow Fort

Near the start of this section you’ll walk past a star lamp and then a flashlight. To the right of the flashlight you can jump up some pillows which lead to a plastic prison with 2 figurines in it. Both players must do a ground slam :x: + :circle: on the buttons in front of the figurines, at the same time. Then the figurines will say something and the trophy unlocks.

Note: Both players receive this trophy simultaneously.

Faraway Frequencies
The truth was out there all along!
Chapter: Rose’s Room / Section: Spaced Out

During this section you must go through several portals, each leading to a new miniworld. Inside the yellow portal jump on the first yellow bouncy pad on the right to get to the top of a tower of pillows. At the very top you find an antenna. Interact with it and move it around to scan for 4 different frequencies. Listen to all 4 and the trophy will unlock.

Note: Both players receive this trophy simultaneously. The next trophy “Look At Him Go” can be done right after this in the same yellow portal.

Look At Him Go
Shoot for the stars, literally.
Chapter: Rose’s Room / Section: Spaced Out

During this section you must go through several portals, each leading to a new miniworld. Inside the yellow portal (same portal as “Faraway Frequencies” trophy) there is a blue ramp near the start. Have player 2 (red boy) catapult player 1 (blue girl) up the ramp. Then player 2 (red boy) must shrink themself to the smallest size :l2: and stand on the lower edge of the ramp. Player 1 (blue girl) jumps on the upper part of the ramp from above with a ground slam :x: + :circle: . This will catapult player 2 (red boy) up to the stars and unlocks the trophy.

Note: Both players receive this trophy simultaneously.

Break the Bank
Guess it was time to cash out.
*This trophy is in the wrong order in the default trophy list. The one below it “A Daring Devil” comes first, so don’t miss that one.

Chapter: Rose’s Room / Section: Hopscotch

There’s a pig with 4 golden coins in front of it, to the left of the minigame “Batting Team”, which is unmissable on the main story path (no way around it, you’ll automatically walk into it and can’t miss it). Pick up the 4 golden coins that are in front of the pig and place them on the back of the pig. It will then roll over and you must jump on its belly to break the “piggy” bank. This unlocks the trophy.

Note: Only the player who destroys the piggy bank gets the trophy. You can restart the checkpoint from the pause menu afterward to redo it for the second player.

A Daring Devil
Put on a show and die trying.
Chapter: Rose’s Room / Section: Hopscotch

At the very start of this level go straight ahead all the way to the end until you can walk no further (don’t take the story path to the right!). There is a toy car parked in front of a red ramp. One player must enter the car. The other must grab it from behind :triangle: and pull it back, aim the car at the red ramp and release it :circle: . The car has to jump through the ring that hangs over the red ramp for the trophy to unlock. You can’t pull it all the way back because then it will fly over the ring. Only pull it halfway back.

Note: In my case only the player who sat in the car and jumped through the ring got the trophy but others have reported it unlocked for both players simultaneously. Either way, you can switch positions afterward.

Snackosaurus
Now look who’s extinct!
Chapter: Rose’s Room / Section: Dino Land

During this section you will be in a room with a tall dinosaur toy. One player must jump on the dinosaur to control it. The 2nd player must stand on a platform that Player 1 can raise with the dinosaur. Immediately after Player 1 raised the first platform to get Player 2 up, press :l-down: to align the dinosaurs head and press :triangle: to eat the 2nd player. It can only be done in this specific spot, the exact spot is shown in the image below (the :triangle: prompt will appear for the player sitting on the toy dinosaur). Once the toy dinosaur eats the other player the trophy unlocks.

Note: Both players receive this trophy simultaneously.

Realize Your Art
Isn’t it pretty? That’s going on the fridge.
Chapter: Rose’s Room / Section: Once Upon a Time

From the start of the level walk straight ahead to the end of the castle courtyard and then take the path on the right. At the end you find a printer and some paint. Jump into the rolling pieces on the back of the printer. This will flatten you and unlocks the trophy.

Note: You have to do this yourself, it doesn’t unlock for you when the other player does it. The trophy “On Rails Experience” takes place in the same castle section.

On Rails Experience
Choo Choo!
Chapter: Rose’s Room / Section: Once Upon a Time

At the very start of the level walk straight ahead to the end of the courtyard. You will see some train tracks on the ground here. Just wait anywhere by the train tracks and wait for a train to drive by. Press :triangle: to jump on board the train and the trophy will unlock.

Note: You have to do this yourself, it doesn’t unlock for you when the other player does it. The trophy “Realize Your Art” takes place in the same castle section.

Platforming Prodigy
Helltower? More like hello-from-up-here-tower!

Chapter: Cuckoo Clock / Section: Gates of Time

During this level you will come to a town square area (outdoors). Go find the funfair in this area. At the end of the funfair is a lit sign that says “HELLTOWER”. In front of this sign are two buttons, both players must jump on them simultaneously to make the tower appear. You must reach the top to earn the trophy. This will take some practice. You have to time your jumps to get from one platform to the next above. Halfway up the tower there are two moving side-walls. You need to wait for the walls to be aligned close together, then do one wall-jump :x: and then just hang on to the wall (press nothing) until the walls align again. Then you do the next wall jump, the walls move away from each other and you press nothing to hang on to the wall, wait for walls to align, do the next wall jump, repeat until you get to the top of the wall. This is followed by some more moving platforms which are similar to the ones in the bottom section of the tower. Just take your time to learn the pattern and don’t try to rush it. If you fall down you must redo the whole thing each try. You can also hold on to the sides of platforms (e.g. double-jump and air dash to the edge of a platform).

Note: You have to do this yourself, it doesn’t unlock for you when the other player does it. The trophy “Force Triangulated” takes place in the same area.

Force Triangulated
Breathe some wind into your ocarina, my skyward princess!
Chapter: Cuckoo Clock / Section: Gates of Time

During this level you will come to a town square area (outdoors). Go find the river in this area and enter the boat at the end of the river with both players. Go forward in the boat until you reach a little house on the right side. Enter that house and the trophy will unlock.

Note: You have to do this yourself, it doesn’t unlock for you when the other player does it. The trophy “Platforming Prodigy” takes place in the same area.

Lost And Found
Again? Keep track of your kids!
Chapter: Snow Globe / Section: Winter Village

When you enter the winter village with the 3 big towers (marked mission objectives), there’s a frozen lake in the middle of the area. Go to the back of the frozen lake to find a mother turtle with 4 empty nests in front of her. She lost her children and you need to bring them back. You must first activate the towers around the winter village to make them spawn. Then the baby turtles will appear on the frozen lake in the middle of the area, quite close to the mother turtle. There are 2 blue ones and 2 red ones. You need to use your magnet power to push them back to the mother turtle.

#1 (Red) – in the middle of the frozen lake, behind the pavilion.
#2 (Red) – straight in front of the turtle mother
#3 (Blue) – in the middle of the frozen lake in front of the pavilion.
#4 (Blue) – straight in front of the turtle mother

Note: Both players get the trophy simultaneously.

Mood Swing
Took things a bit too far, didn’t you?
Chapter: Snow Globe / Section: Winter Village

When you enter the winter village with the 3 big towers (marked mission objectives), activate the bell of the left tower. This will unfreeze the left part of town. Underneath that same tower is a swingset at the cliffside, at the very end of the village. There’s someone sitting on the red swing. Use your magnet powers to make him spin around really quickly which will unlock the trophy for both players.

Note: Both players get the trophy simultaneously.

Something Fishy
Don’t feed the animals! Or do, they’re adorable.
Chapter: Snow Globe / Section: Beneath the Ice

At the very start of this level you must jump down into water. The story path then takes you to an underwater station. Exit the station and dive up. Once you’re out of the water look for a little boat (next to the “Ice Race” minigame). The boat has two harpoons on it, use them to catch some fish and feed them to the seals.

Note: You have to do this yourself, it doesn’t unlock for you when the other player does it. The trophy “Terror of the Seven Seas” takes place in the same area.

Terror Of The Seven Seas
Scurvy! Ye look smashing, captain!
Chapter: Snow Globe / Section: Beneath the Ice

At the very start of this level you must jump down into water. The story path then takes you to an underwater station. Exit the station and dive up. Once you’re out of the water look for a pirate ship in the distance. Climb up the pirate ship, open the treasure chest behind the steering wheel, and interact with it to put on a pirate hat. This unlocks the trophy.

Note: You have to do this yourself, it doesn’t unlock for you when the other player does it. The trophy “Something Fishy” takes place in the same area.

Bug Sized Relaxation
Release that tension at the root level.
Chapter: Garden / Section: Green Fingers

After the Burrower Boss Fight you enter a spa building. Sit inside the pool in the spa to get this trophy.

Note: You have to do this yourself, it doesn’t unlock for you when the other player does it.

Meditation Maestro
You reached a higher state of mind.
Or at least some peace and quiet.
Chapter: The Attic / Section: Symphony

After reaching the outdoor section with white clouds where you get the jetpack ability for the first time, there’s a big tambourine straight in front of you (in front of the big golden dome). Enter the tambourine, there are two stools there on which both players can sit to meditate. This unlocks the trophy.

Note: You have to do this yourself, it doesn’t unlock for you when the other player does it.

Also played online my physical copy with latest patch and PS5 version. Me and also friend did not unlock any trophies. In trophy list are trophies locked. So only local coop works?

I did everything online and it worked fine. All trophies unlocked normally.
So definitely doesn’t have to be done in local co-op.
Not sure what’s going on in your game. If your friend joined you via the free Friend’s Pass Trial it’s normal they can’t earn any trophies – only if you purchased the full version the trophies will unlock.

Interesting. Maybe a little buggy? If anyone else can confirm if it popped for both at the same time or not that’d be great.
In my game, my friend jumped through the ring first and got it but I didn’t. Then I jumped through the ring and it popped for me.

We just tried it out. You have access to the savefile from the ps4 and you can continue right before the finale. Trophy for playing through popped afterwards. We missed one collectible on the ps4. Because of that, we had one collectible left on the ps5 as well. Don’t know when you got all collectables on ps4 if the trophy autopops. This has to be confirmed.
Other than that no trophy popped but you are able to chapter select and get them quite quickly.

If anyone is having issues with the Helltower, you can cheese it with May.

Put a copy just in front of the trap door and activate the tower, you have a split second to activate your power and you’ll teleport in front of the tower, where the top platform will lift you to the top.

Grab the trophy, return to main menu, swap characters with your partner and repeat.
